Evaluation of Rotations
TEXTILES IN PRACTICE: ORIGINS
At the outset, I was extremely eager to experiment and learn with all the new skills I was being taught throughout the rotations. Although i did starts to loose my confidence slightly towards my second rotations, this was mainly due to colour matching and learning new techniques that I wasn't used too, therefore I was put outside my comforts zone.
As the rotations went on I started to realise that this was a positive, helping me grow and learn a wider verity of techniques and helpful guidance throughout my textiles degree. I was also slightly worried about the fact that my own style of work wasn't showing through any work I was creating, however I changed my outlook on the way I was thinking and realised that this isn't a case of showing off my own style of work but more of a way to learn and create things that I haven't created before, even though I wasn't exactly in my comforts zone I started to look at this as a positive impact, realising that this is a huge opportunity to grow as a designer, with the skills and techniques being taught throughout the origins.
I found myself being more motivation when I coming into uni on a Wednesday and Friday to do independent work, as I could take my time to practice and develop my work even further, this also allowed me to grow more confidence in what I was doing. I found working with my group of friends that are in my group (Spiral) helped me out a lot, as they are very motivated and hard working themselves and that had a good impact on me.
I also found that attending the weekly meetings with Kate helped a lot to keep me up to date, these meetings gave us all the vital information we needed throughout our rotations. It also gave you a good opportunity to ask any questions about anything you may have been unsure about or struggling with.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed each unit in its own ways. I am now looking forward to developing my skills and techniques even further in the next unit ahead.
