GAMES UNIT - PRINT
PRINT GAMES UNIT
Throughput this unit I really feel like my print work has grown massively, I haven’t really focused on the print side of textiles before, so this, for me, was thoroughly enjoyable. At first I was a bit hesitant and confused about the Games theme, it was something I couldn’t really get my head around and found it hard to find inspirations from but as time went on and I started to collect research such as, artist research, contextual research, and using my sketchbook to go back and forth with ideas to inspire myself, this then started to get me excited about creating prints inspired by the theme of games.

I chose print because I feel like its something I will get more and more interested in as I learn more and learn new techniques. I thought I would specialise more in the hands on creative side of print but I have found myself really enjoying the digital aspects of it. I noticed that some of my more stronger prints have came form the digital side of this project. What really helped me was the Tuesday photoshop sessions with Sally it helped grow my confidence with photoshopping, which is something I never really worked with before until the rotation units of prints. As I continue to learn I feel more and more inspired to push myself with the stuff I am not so familiar with in print.
The thing that I have taken from this unit the most is the new things I have learnt such as displacement images on photoshop, repeat patterns, digital printing, working with new materials in photoshop such as foil and fluffy material, using transfer dyes and understanding the process of it, etc. I love learning new things and I will continue to do so. I am now looking forward to the next unit to continue growing in this course.
